The period between November 20 and December 20 was relatively quiet on the Stakes win front for graduates of South Carolina training centers. Barbadian Runner, Divine Intentions, and Post Time did find their way to the winner’s circle, though.

On November 22, Barbadian Runner, who learned his early lessons at Bob, Jason, and Deborah McCutchen’s training center in Kingstree, SC, proved much the best in the Richard W. Small Stakes at Laurel Park. While fourth, 5 ½ lengths back after the opening half-mile, Barbadian Runner started to advance during the turn for home, took over the lead in mid-stretch, and increased his margin with every stride crossing the finish line 4 ¼ lengths in front. He is owned by AJ Will Win Stables, trained by Henry Walters, and was ridden to victory by his regular rider, Forest Boyce.

Barbadian Runner has had a fantastic 2025 campaign! In 12 starts, he won six races, all of which were Stakes! In fact, all of his starts in 2025 were in Stakes races. Barbadian Runner also had 4 second-place finishes. In 20 lifetime starts, he has seven wins, six seconds, and four third-place finishes with career earnings of $810,630.

The 2-year-old filly, Divine Intentions, made three starts in 2025, winning two, including the Shamrock Rose Stakes at PARX on November 26. She broke on top and never looked back, winning by three lengths. Divine Intentions is a graduate of Randy and Kala Rentz’s training center in Erhardt, S.C. She is owned by Carguy’s Racing LLC, trained by Tyler Servis, and was ridden by Frankie Pennington.

On December 20, South Carolina saw two of our graduates finish first and second in the Robert T. Manfuso Stakes at Laurel Park. Post Time, a former student of Cary Frommer’s breaking program in Aiken, S.C., trailed the field for the first ¾’s of a mile. He then kicked into gear, getting to the front at the 1/16 th pole and sprinted clear to win by 1 ½ lengths. Barbadian Runner was second best. Owned by Ellen Charles’ Hillwood Stable, LLC, Post Time is trained by Brittany Russell and his regular rider is her husband, Sheldon. During his 23-race career, Post Time has recorded 13 wins, including nine Stakes victories, four seconds, and five third-place finishes, accumulating $1,558,705 in career earnings.
